Email is the whole support system. There is no ticket portal, no chatbot, and no account to log into first.

What to include

Anchorframe cannot send us diagnostics — it has no network access, by design — so anything we learn about a problem has to come from you. The fastest path to a real answer:

• Your macOS version and the Anchorframe version, both from Anchorframe → About.
• What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.
• The file format of the scans involved (TIFF, JPEG, DNG), and roughly how many are in the folder.
• A screenshot, if the problem is something you can see.

Please do not send us your photos unless we ask. We do not want a copy of your library, and in almost every case the metadata description above is enough.

Reporting a privacy or security problem

Use the same address and say so in the subject line. If you believe you have found a way for the app to send data off your Mac, that contradicts the privacy policy and we want to know before anyone else does.

What does it need to run?

macOS 15 or later.

What files can it open?

JPEG, HEIC, TIFF, PNG, and RAW — thirty RAW formats, which is every one this Mac can decode. Anchorframe asks the operating system what it can read instead of keeping a list, so a format Apple adds support for works without an update here. A RAW and a JPEG from the same exposure are treated as one frame rather than two.

Can it write into my RAW files?

Into the file itself, no — and this is macOS rather than a choice we made: it cannot encode any RAW format, DNG included. JPEG, HEIC, TIFF and PNG are written in place.

For a RAW frame the same record goes into an XMP sidecar beside the file — IMG_8355.xmp next to IMG_8355.CR3 — which is the convention Lightroom, Capture One and Photo Mechanic follow. So nothing is refused: a folder of RAW saves like any other, and the result is legible to those apps rather than only to this one.

If one of them already wrote a sidecar, yours is merged into it, never replacing it, and the merge is verified before anything is written: if any value that is not ours would move, the file is left exactly as it was. One known exception, because it is better said than discovered — an empty crd:LookName is dropped, since macOS does not serialise empty values.

The gap worth knowing: darktable, digiKam and Geeqie look for IMG_8355.CR3.xmp instead, keeping the original extension. That is a real divergence in the wild rather than a bug in any of them, and it means those three will not see a sidecar Anchorframe wrote. If you use one of them, say so — knowing anyone needs it is what would move it.

Will it modify my photo library?

No. Photo library access is read-only. Anchorframe writes metadata only into the scan files you explicitly opened.

Can I use it without granting photo library access?

Yes. The app ships with sample rolls you can work on immediately.

What happens to my data if I delete the app?

Everything the app cached goes with it. Your scans and your photo library are untouched, because the app never held the only copy of anything.
